How to resolve your Epson Projector Overheating Problems Epson Express Centre

How to resolve your Epson Projector Overheating Problems

Epson projector overheating problems can cause serious damage to the device’s hardware, such as the melting of its components. Overheating in an Epson projector can be caused by various reasons, such as weather, high temperatures, hardware failures and more.   It’s important you Identify what might be causing the device to overheat so as to determine if you can solve the problem by yourself or if you need to take the device to Epson Service Centre.   Here are the list of most likely reasons why your Epson projector might be overheating:   Projector fan obstruction This is the most common reason why Epson projectors overheat. Make sure the projector’s air outlets are not clogged with dust or obstructed by nearby objects. Some projectors such as 3LCD have a filter that is cleaned periodically, if yours has a filter, verify that it is clean.   Epson projector openings may be blocked or dirty. Remove any object that is in the vicinity of the projector so that air can flow around the projector, cooling it. In addition, clean the projector openings to remove dirt and debris that may be restricting air flow.   Room temperature A hot room can also cause a projector to overheat, and even if you increase the intensity with which the projector’s fans operate, they may not be able to prevent the projector from overheating. Reduce the temperature in the area where the projector is located or turn on fans in the area and point them toward the projector.   High Mount The higher the projector is, the greater the air pressure and the equipment “strives” more. Some projectors have the “High Altitude” or “High Altitude Mode” function that makes the fans work harder to avoid overheating.   High altitude can cause Epson projectors to overheat. Overheating is the result of increased air pressure causing the internal components of the device to work harder. You can increase the frequency at which the device’s fans operate by activating the “High Altitude” mode in the “Options” section of the main menu.   Inoperative fan Epson projector fans may no longer be working. If you don’t feel air coming out of the openings, and if you don’t hear a soft hum coming from the device, the fans may no longer be working. If you think your fans are inoperative, turn off the device, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again. If the fans start working, it is likely to be a system failure. However, if the fans do not work again, you should replace them before continuing to use the device to avoid damaging its internal components.   Lack of maintenance Most of the times, Epson projector gets hot because the projector has not been serviced and the internal ventilation system is clogged with dust. If you do not have much experience with projectors, it is recommended that a specialist in Epson projectors check if the internal components of the projector could be damaged. You can contact Epson Express Centre and we will gladly support you.   If you notice that your Epson projector heats up moderately when using it, then its only normal since the lamp emits heat. On the other hand, if the heating is excessive do not expose it more and try to find a solution. Some projector model automatically turns off to protect itself and the temperature indicator light starts to flash, others fail to show any signal. It is not normal if smoke is produced or smells like burning, if this occurs, turn it off immediately.   If you require more information on this topic or seek specialized advice, do not hesitate to contact us at Epson Express Centre.
